'An Introduction to Sewing with your Machine'
weekend workshop
in the beautiful Mansion setting of West Dean College,
West Sussex on 11th - 13th November 2011

'Enjoy discovering the basics of sewing and gain confidence with setting up and using your machine during this productive and fun weekend. You learn good basic sewing skills, fabric preparation and also practice a variety of techniques through the creation of a zipped cushion and a lined bag.'
West Dean College is an internationally-renowned centre for study. The college provides MA degrees, diplomas and short courses for students of all abilities, from the beginner to the advanced professional practitioner from traditional and contemporary arts, crafts, writing, to gardening and music. Formerly the home of Edward James, patron of many surrealist artists including Dali and Magritte, the 19th-century flint-faced mansion has, for over 35 years, been home to the College. Students can stay in one of the 52 comfortably furnished bedrooms in the main house or at The Vicarage, a short walk away from the main house across the beautifully restored and cared for gardens.
West Deans' specialist workshops and studios are amongst the best equipped in the UK We will be teaching in one of the brightly naturally lit spacious first-floor art studios.
