Get support with creating your own projects.
Suitable for those with basic sewing machine skills, and intermediate and advanced levels of sewing.
Taught by Alice.
This is a lovely 10-week class, with numbers limited to six students to enable you to
receive lots of help and assistance from Alice. Now in its 16th year, this was the very first
course that we ran and is very close to our hearts. Students work on projects of their
own choice under Alice’s guidance - dressmaking, getting a good fit, soft furnishings and
quilting are always great favourites but if you are less confident and need a refresher,
that’s fine too, although this class isn’t suitable for complete beginners.

Make your own Regency-style gown in a weekend with our guidance.
After making a toile to check the fit, you’ll then make any necessary pattern alterations, cut your fabric and sew your gown, finishing it with a gathered bust and ribbons or lace trimming.
You will need to bring your own fabric for your dream dress, printed cotton or silk works well – you could even use a duvet cover or vintage tablecloth! Guidance on amount needed will be sent out once you have booked. We will provide trimmings and fastenings if you need them.
SEWING WEEKENDS with Alice
WEEKEND SEWING AT THE HAYBARN
Enjoy a relaxing weekend of total sewing bliss in the fantastic Hay Barn Hampshire, situated
in the beautiful Hampshire village of Lower Froyle, just south of Farnham.
Over two days, leave all of your hassles behind and recharge your batteries with some
dedicated sewing time working on sewing projects of your own choice under my guidance. It
could be that you would like to focus on getting a good fit to your handmade clothes; Maybe
you want to tackle a fabric you have never used before, like jersey, a slippery silk or wool;
Perhaps you would like to make a garment that you’ve never felt confident to attempt on
your own; It could be that you’d like to create some soft furnishings or use up all of your
scraps on a patchwork quilt. The possibilities are endless.
Although this class isn’t suitable for absolute beginners, if you have some knowledge of
using your sewing machine but don’t feel very confident, you are very welcome to come and
learn some more skills.
A light lunch is included on both days with tea/coffee and cake to sustain you! Just perfect!
